Thanks to everyone who came out Tuesday night at the Horseshoe. We had a good time play with Pearls Mahone & The (abbreviated) One Eyed Jacks, and Junkrod Joe. Check the website and stay tuned for more shows before September 5th, at the Beat Kitchen, w/ the Safes.
Over the weekend (now two weekends back) we went down to Leroy, Illinois with a posse of circus freaks, a couple cases of beer, and a camera. Below are a couple selected production stills from the weekend. Stay tuned for the upcoming video, which should be up on the site within the month. Our gratitude goes out to our crew, and the freaks that accompanied them:

The Shells - WhiplashTwo soul gems today, that like many great songs, made their start as 45’s, and gained their fan base via compilations. And an unexpected fan base it was, because the easiest place to find this tune these days is within the walls of Songs The Cramps Taught Us Vol. I. As the more savvy fans might have noticed, the Cramps Ultra Twist off “Big Beat From Badsville,” is inspired by this tune. After you hear Whiplash you’ll want to cheat on your first love, because it is head over heels more badass than Ultra Twist, which is an excellent number in it’s own right. |

Bobo Mr. Soul - Hitchhike To Heartbreak RoadThis is potentially the most positive song, that’s not by Cock Sparrer, you might ever see featured in this collection. “Hitchhike To Heartbreak Road” is a smashing number from the would be king of 80’s gospel and R&B, a style and decade to be skeptical of; although his styling throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s laid the ground for the height of his gospel “career,” they were in fact, the height of his existence, no questions asked when you hear the Sam Cooke Like, would be Temptations vocals on this 45. |
